You can see on the table the flowers I am about to paint. And you can see the vase that I have been pulling stems from to make arrangements to paint. I thought these three flowers looked really interesting lying on the table and seeing them from behind.

I like the colors and also the twisting stems of the flowers. This is part of my Alla Prima Project where I’m focusing on brushstroke poetry.

I give my self the morning to arrange the setup and paint. I decided to take a break from painting and go to the gym before I had to pick up my kid from the school bus. Usually I’m done with painting by the time I get my 6 year old but because I went to the gym I told my boy that I needed to finish my painting and not to touch the flowers on the table.

Of course when I’m fixing us a snack he brings me the flowers that were on table asking if these are the flowers I was talking about. sigh so then we had a talk about still life setups and what that means exactly.

Anyway I couldn’t get the flowers in the exact position which I’m finding happens with natural living objects that are slowly shifting anyways. So it forced me to relay on memory and just feeling what the paintings needed to finish it. And I really like how this painting turned out. So… thanks, Jude.
